Ellie was the first to drive the boat. She was sitting on mommy's lap and reached out to Grandpa and the moment she got on my lap, she immediately knew what to do. She had so much fun.

Bald Eagle Lands at home

Had a once in a life time opportunity last Wednesday late afternoon.

A Bald Eagle flew past the house and landed in a close tree in the woods next to our house. He was there for about an hour enjoying his dinner. I took over 200 (JPEG & RAW) photos and now have to search through them. I did take a moment though and work on the first good one I saw and the results of the original shot and a cropped / zoomed shot are attached.

I shot this with the Canon 40D and 70-200 and 1.4X multiplier on it (about 300mm) and then zoomed in more in Photoshop.

We have not seen him since, but hope he comes back.

WOW - Grandbabies are FUN!!!

We've had a couple of great weekends with all the kids since my last post. Abbie and Ellie came down for Uncle Josh's Birthday and then again this weekend for Valentine's Day. With the President's Day holiday, Abbie and Ellie were able to stay a nice long weekend. Ryne is "all boy", crawling around, checking everything out and being a ham for Grandpa's camera. Grandpa got all the stair gates installed last week, so now we don't need to worry about the stairs, but there is still plenty to watch out for. Penny doesn't get what all the fuss is about, but she gave Grandpa some really nice looks and is adjusting to the erratic actions of her cousins. She is quiet and sweet, but has moments of "temper". Ellie loves to play quietly in the middle of the floor with Grandma's bowls and measuring cups. Hum, boys and girls play differently!!! It's tough to get them all happy at the same time though. Grandpa stressed the camera and it took him a lot of time to reduce the numebr to what I posted. Take a look at all the new pictures in the February 2009 album.

Grandbaby FIX

Grandpa & Grandma needed a baby fix this morning (especailly Grandpa since he is headed to Vegas for most of the week), so we went for visits. Grandpa just had to take some pictures. Joel and Abbie have updated their blog with videos and Ryne is doing the army crawl - see Kyle & Krista's video.

New Pictures Posted

I have posted new pictures in Penny's album and started a January 2009 album.

This weekend we packed Joel and Abbie's house and they moved they belongings to Michigan. They have sold the house and will close this week. Abbie enjoy's her new job, but is not enjoying the record snow falls they are having this year.

Have you heard all the news about the pilot that faked the crash. It's all over the news. The individual lived across the lake from us and had his office about three blocks from here. Kind of strange reading the national news with a local understanding. The guy sounds like a real high roller. Guess you can when you are using other's money.

Penelope Grace Taylor (Penny) Day 2

I've posted some new pictures in the album that show her eyes opened and that head of hair. Day two was great and the Doctors and Nurses have all done what they need to do for a newborn and all love the hair. Emily is rested and doing good today. Dad Josh is beaming.

Penelope Grace Taylor (Penny) Arrives

Baby Taylor - now known as, Penelope Grace Taylor (Penny) arrived this world on January 5, 2009 at 3:20pm at 6 lbs, 15 oz. and 19 inches (a light weight), with a head full of curly dark hair, that we couldn't get a good look at tonight because they needed to keep her hat on, but we did peek. Emily says it is really curly.

She was greeted and welcomed by her Grandparents, Great Grandparents, Aunt and Uncles and cousin Ryne.

Everyone is fine and the delivery went somewhat slow and Emily was quite tired, but is doing fine.

At the link on the right are some early pictures. In an effort to get these posted quickly, I did not take time to edit or crop so they might not be ideal for reprints without some clean up.

Christmas Break is over ! Now back to work !!

It has been a fantastic Christmas break. It was wonderful having everyone over for my birthday and for Christmas. Being sick most of the week off, forced some much needed rest time. After recovery, the kids all put Dad to work fixing things at their houses. Kyle told Ryne that he needs to pay more attention to Grandpa, watch closely, learn and go to the hardware store and not make the same mistake Kyle made. All are on a crash course to learn everything they can, now that they know how much minor home repairs cost.

Emily & Josh are at the hospital awaiting baby "Taylor" (as she has been nicknamed for now). They will be inducing on Monday and we should have another grandbaby soon. We can't wait.
